At some point, every adult child realizes that conversations with their parents haven’t evolved much since high school — except now we’re navigating full-time careers, managing homes, raising families, and weathering the chaos of adulthood. Yet, somehow, the questions and concerns from our parents still sound like we’re sneaking out past curfew. “Did you remember your oil change?” “Are you sure that job is a good move?” “Do you think that’s the best idea?”

We are not 16 anymore.

We’re not grounded, not seeking permission, and certainly not looking for approval on every life choice. We’ve built lives that you haven’t always witnessed — full of challenges, growth, failures, and victories. So why are we still being treated like teenagers?
